MillLine: New Cutting Edge Geometry and Grade for “DoPent” Face Milling Line

Iwaki / Japan, 01. March 2014 - Tungaloy's popular DoPent face milling line has now been extended with pressed inserts with neutral geometry, together with the newly launched PVD coated AH3135 grade.

Tungaloy’s DoPent series is well-known as a high-performance face milling series with economical 10 cornered inserts. With a wider choice of grades and chipbreakers, the DoPent line is ideal for machining a wide variety of work materials, such as carbon steels, alloy steels, cast iron, and aluminium alloys.

Focusing on applications requiring duplex machining, the newly added pressed M-class inserts with MJ chipbreaker incorporate neutral geometry that allow the use of the inserts on both right and left hand cutter bodies. With the depth of cut same as the current periphery ground C-class inserts, the cutting edge geometry of M-class MJ type inserts generate cutting forces at least 10% lower than that of the C-class inserts. This characteristic further improves machining performance for the customers even on machines with lower rigidity.

Strengthening the current grade line-up, the new AH3135 insert grade has taken the productivity and tool life for steel and stainless steel machining to a new level. This AH3135 grade incorporates a multi layered coating for exceptional chipping resistance while the exclusive carbide substrate offers outstanding toughness. This new addition further strengthens the DoPent milling line to be a truly universal face milling line for all types of materials and applications.
