DrillLine: New Additions to DrillMeister Line for Wider Drilling Applications

Iwaki / Japan, 3. March 2014, Tungaloy Corporation, the producer of innovative holemaking tools, is now expanding its head-exchangeable DrillMeister line to include 'flange type TID' drill bodies. The expansion of the DrillMeister line will enable end users to work in a more diverse application ranges.

The flange type TID line is available in diameters from 10 to 19.9 mm with cutting heads in 0.1mm increments and in length-to-diameter ratios of 1.5, 3, 5, and 8xD. Aimed at manufacturers in the automotive, oil & gas, construction, and general machining sectors, DrillMeister offers exceptional performance on a wide variety of materials that include low carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, grey and ductile cast irons, aluminium alloys, titanium alloys, and heat resistant alloys.

Furthermore, the new TID flange type drills have internal coolant system with highly polished, helically-twisted flutes that reduce friction and improve chip evacuation. These strengths lead to impressive hole accuracy, concentricity, and surface finish. Moreover, the use of highly polished drill body flutes is particularly effective when drilling deep holes in 5xD or 8xD.

TID flange type drill bodies are made of DIN and ANSI diameter shanks that work with the standard power chuck holders and collet chuck holders. These shanks also have flat cotters that can be clamped with the regular side-lock holders and with sleeves on internal turning holders on CNC lathes. The flanges of the new TID drills touch the toolholder and offer a secure back-stop for the drill. This feature improves stability and productivity even at significantly increased feed rates.

The DrillMeister series combines the productivity of solid drills and the flexibility of indexable drills. The newly added flange type TID drill bodies enlarge the current machining ranges and help customers increase productivity in their productions.
